Spit! Spit! And the guy on the LA TV continues with his cursing at the ruling Mullahs! Spit! Spit! I am guessing his mustache is fake or he would have to swallow back the spit off his mustache when drinking his Chay-ghand pahloo (afternoon tea!!)
Spit! Spit! The Iranian election is getting close and the fashionable candidates are having their morning massages, their cloths carefully picked, and botox and fat injections to look all ready and charming for the Iranian people. Spit! Spit! They too want to look pretty? spit! Spit! I am getting off the subject again. It happens a lot. This, getting off the subject... I mean... happens a lot to me! Spit! Spit! I am getting old... 32 going 33 and everyone knows... even a commenter on Nema Milaninia's blog has decided to give me a body lift. They want to cut my head off my Iranian.com section and display it on a porn star's photo! My hubby will be so grateful ...because I have been complaining about my fat, big behind for the past three years and he is tired of the subject. That would mean he would not have to hear me nag day and night! Spit! Spit! Some commenters are very smart! Ahh! I started with the guy on the LA TV... wanting so bad to tell you of what I think is wrong here! The Iranian regime is a bad wolf! We need to know what it needs and what it eats instead of spitting on it! Spiting doesn't resolve our problems! by the way... welcome to the only English-language blog for news and views about the Iranian election authored by the Iranian female blogger Sheema Kalbasi. Speed! Speed!
I love Brooding Persian... isn't he great?

In response to fellow Iranian bloggers who are promoting Dr. Mostafa Moin (moeen) in the upcoming Iranian election (a.k.a. Iran elections 1384/ Iran Votes 2005): renaming "eslah-talabs" (reformer) to "mosharekati" (affiliates of Islamic Iran Participation Front) is like putting lipstick on a pig. A pig is a pig with or without lipstick. These people neither believe in eslahat (reforms) nor mosharekat (participation). Their idea of reforms and participation is nothing but endless talks and pseudo-philosophical debates about the relation between the government and the governed, designed to deceive the people.
Human Rights abuse in Iran continues... Wake up World!

Free Akbar Ganji

This morning I was sitting next to the little girl on the sofa, watching with her... one of her favorite cartoons... when she started to question about the penguin and his dad! Penguin, I told the little girl... has a baba/dad but no maani/mama. Like me, I told her. I don't have a maani. Some people have a baba or a maani or have both. Some have two mannis but no baba and there are also some kids who have two baba but no maani! Then there are those who live with their grandpa... and she listened... and my mind wandered off the subject and started to recall how my parents had it easy... instead of discussing these issues... they were telling us... to be cautious of the revolutionary spies in our schools... to not read such and such book outside our home... not to get involved in politics... not to attract attention... or those murderer mullahs would take us and no one would know of our whereabouts... like dad's friends... like the cousin of a neighbor... the dentist, the doctor, the worker, the teacher, the soldier, the student, my relatives...

Come to think of it my parents had some difficult time... I rather explain to my little girl why not all families have one mama and one dad!

P and I love Siamack Baniameri's writings... here is why...

" I'm sick and tired of bloggers. Stop it for God's sake! Instead of hiding behind your computer all day and all night and telling others to go "lengesh kon," get your skinny ass out there and mix it up. Blow up some cars and burn down some buildings. Get in a fistfight with a revolutionary guardsman, chase down a Basiji in a dark alley and smack him around a little bit ... you gutless, keyboard warrior." or... "And you know what I'm sick and tired of? I'm sick and tired of rose, orange and velvet revolutions. The world has gone gay. "Oh, we were out there on the streets, passing on roses, kissing and singing." Well, fuck you. What happened to good old-fashioned revolutions when you went out there, kicked ass and got even with people you don't like? What happened to burning tires, throwing rocks, Molotov cocktails and smashing windows? What happened to the smell of teargas, sweat and blood?"

from We're not impressed by Siamack Baniameri.

When reading this blog today... I recalled the last election time in the U.S. and how the rich and calculated (even in marriage!!) Mr. Kerry was unable to explain why he had supported the U.S. president's going to war - I could have had called Kerry's advisers and told them... to explain his support for the war in two-three words but his interest in appeasing the Iranian fascist regime ... stopped me from doing so -bla! Bla! bla!- ... Now that Kerry is out of the equation, Bush is the president and your curiosity is build up good... I am telling you what Kerry could/should have had said but Mr. Kerry's advisors -unlike me- were not brilliant enough... you know!...

"Right decision, wrong president" ... simple and clever... but

... I wouldn't call the liberals anyway... History shows Democrats have always been bad for Iran! Kennedy, Carter... (Mrs. Clinton? her too?)

shake shake shake mr. BuzzMachine a.k.a Jeff Jarvis. You need to delete some of those Middle East blog links! They are not working!

Dad cannot hear well... and his listening to the news on the loud speakers is driving me deaf... and I thought it is bad at my in-laws with the news going on 24/7!
For me... Sheema, the refugee

I move to be whole,

with different names,
worn out thoughts
and broken bones!
Between these guys (do not click if you are in a public place,) and these ones (link via Jay's blog) which group would you vote for? At least with the first group you know you get a show and you are paying good/cheerful money for it! With those others you pay with the blood of your children and neighbors and the show ... Yaks... I say we got a bad deal here!

Those voting for Dr. Mostafa Moin in the upcoming Iranian Election need a wake up call! Moin was the Minister of Culture and Higher Education under President Hashemi Rafsanjani and the Minister of Science, Research, and Technology under President Khatami! So to the sleeping beauties out there ... is Dr. Moin really your prince charming? These candidates regardless of being a reformist or hardliner are all representing the regime of Iran.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Apparently when you write or speak in a second language you are more polite... more careful! I read Dr. Hooshang Amirahmadi's article where he says a democratic election in Iran will break the back bone of the U.S. (translation from the Persian) ... what exactly is he suggesting? Is he a sleeping cell? Perhaps I am wrong! Maybe he meant something else! Perhaps he is just not that fluent in English therefore ... he is more cautious when speaking in English!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dora

We are sitting face to face. She is pipi trained... now we are trying hard to get her... do the poo-poo! I sing to her and she chants with me... then she points at my breasts and says Maani I don't have those. I answer back... well you are not alone. Your dad and grandpa (my dad is here from Denmark) don't have these either!

I hope the majority of Iranians will stay home on the so called election day!

Participating in the Islamic Republic's election means participating in the massacre of political prisoners, executions of army Officers, intelligence officers, Bahais, the genocide of the Iranian Kurds, the chain-murders of writers, the arrests of bloggers, the public executions and floggings.

A family Tale

My mother's latest hobby
Moonlighting in the local Buddhist Temple....

One day she will decide to leave everything
And run away with a monk

When the blogger of Well ....Me sent a few of her poems... I chose this one for The Poetry of Iranian Women: A Contemporary Anthology... that I'm editing. The poem is different...

How many times my mom
Has changed her religion and ran on him
While he was taking his afternoon nap
lets go to bed early... so that we can be full of energy ...even after waking up with the little girls' feet on our faces ... at five in the morning. He agrees to try sleeping early and P and I... head up the stairs and to our bed... only to wake up by the doorbell at 1:00 a.m. I look outside and see an African American man walking around the house. We call the cups and while P is giving the description... the guy goes to his car and starts driving back and forth a few times and finally leaving...
a few minutes later we had three police cars parked in front of our home and two cups at our door... asking questions.
They missed the guy maybe with two minutes delay! They were fast.

... I say they had camped outside our home... considering I had written about job openings at CIA on my blog!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I took dad to the hospital. He has a very high blood pressure and we have to go for a cat scan from his head.

Remembering the Iranian army officer, Hooshang Amirafshar and chief assist. in army's intelligence service, colonel Ali Vojdani. They lost their lives when the revolutionaries executed one and cut the other into pieces in front of his wife and child. Today in memory of those two and the Iranian Intelligence Officers. I am posting some of their names in Persian.

...

Today when I went to pick up my girl from the day care... she came up to me... with a flower and a handmade card... saying Happy Mother's Day, maani. I almost fainted with joy.

God bless your days as you have mine, my girl.
Akh! When I am reminded of those backstabbing people... or those who say/write something to the face/on the phone or their e-mails but never mean it... I just want to throw up.

Keep me off your friends' lists please! You just make me bulimic!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

VOA (Voice of America) called yesterday to have an interview with me... like everything else that I have been postponing in my life... until my shoulder/arm gets better... I told them I'd do the interview in a month or so.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This morning

P: I had a dream last night... that we have twins... two more girls.
Sheema: Is it good or bad?
P: I love it. I think if we get two more girls exactly like the little girl... we will be even more blessed (update: We are not expecting.)

...

In the shadow of daybreak
I look at the empty baskets
That you have left on the kitchen counter

I fill one with fresh pine cones
That you have gathered from a remote canyon
And the other with black sea shells
...

Once in a while I check one of my favorite blogs written by Imshin, an Israeli mom. As some of you may know I am an environment conscious type of girl. I like to recycle the food I cook (ha! ha!) and if I could afford I would like to recycle the water from shower and the washing machine for the garden and ... em... flushing the toilets but hey the government not the citizens should sponsor and pay for these things and Israel makes great environment friendly stuff.

Anyway I checked her blog and this link, guess what my name-product means!!
Sheema is a beermat that stays sharp forever! It looks really, really good and can play chess.

I was reading a few of my favorite Persian blogs when I saw these photos of "happy" Europeans holding flags... asking for the U.S. troops to leave Iraq. I tried to find an article I'd written about Iraq's liberation but could not... so I went deepwater fishing in my archive and found this post...

In my view, oil cannot be separated from the geopolitical equations of the Middle East. At the same time, however, I believe it is misleading to attribute the roots of this conflict to oil alone. In order to defeat communism or the so-called -evil empire, the US found weird bedfellows among Islamic fundamentalists and stayed ambivalent about them for almost a decade after the old adversary was defeated. The tragic events of September 11, or in Professor Fred Holliday's words the two hours that shook the world changed the paradigm of international relations forever. The world of the 21st century won't be one in which tyrants and fanatics are supported/appeased by democracies. It will be a world built on alliance of democracies, which together deal the final blow to fundamentalism and terrorism. I see Iraqis liberation as the first step towards that end. The US has come to realize the importance of security in the region and the inseparable relationship between security and democracy in that region. I truly hope that this leads to democratization of the region and peace for everyone just As US Intervention In Europe Brought Prosperity To The Continent.

...don't you wanna share your happy hour with the rest of us?
Iranian workers protested to the expediency Council Chairman (hum?) Akbar Hashemi Ransanjani... by leaving him cold... apparently he wants to run for President, again! but... If you ask me I say let him be the next president. Our history (current or not) shows we –Iranians- forgive and forget the mass murdering (Mojaheds, Bahaies,) the executions or arrests of Monarchists, communists, army officers, writers, journalists, students and the bloggers but we cannot, do not and will not forgive thieves?!

The little girl is constantly asking about my mom. The last time she saw Maman alive was when we visited my parents in Europe -she was only 9 months at that time.

Last week she pointed at a blond woman in Barns and Nobles... saying... look it's Mamani!
