Prince Alireza Pahlavi was innocent of his father’s human rights violations. His exile and death resonates with the Pain of millions of Iranians who live in exile.
Earlier today someone on my Facebook asked if I support Iran going back to a monarchy. This is my response to that question. I, Sheema Kalbasi, support a DEMOCRATIC Iran and one that is hopefully a REPUBLIC where every qualified Iranian regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, ideology, etc. can be a candidate to SERVE the nation. As for the Pahlavi family well it is a historical fact that Reza Khan Pahlavi changed the face of the country in less than two decades - something that was never done before or after him. As for Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, he too wanted a modern Iran. Despite his deep religious fears and traditionalism and even inferiority complex, he tried his best. It was during his time that Iran experienced religious and cultural Freedom as well as Progressive REFORMS such as women's Voting and family Rights. But Prince Alireza Pahlavi was innocent of his father’s human rights violations. His EXILE and death resonates with the PAIN of millions of Iranians who live in exile.
